Tabacariei Lake Constanta
About Tabacariei Lake Constanta
Tabacarie Lake ( tn. the Tannery Lake) is located in the north of Constanta and is part of a complex of lakes alongside with the Siutghiol Lake. Tabacarie Lake has a surface of about 99 ha.
Its shores are completely adjusted and consolidated. The western shore has a height of 6 to 7 meters, but the eastern and southern shores are much lower and have a height of about 2 to 4 meters. The northern shore is the lowest, with a height of 1 to 2 meters.
Relatively isolated from natural sources, the lake has a depth which varies from 1, 5 meters deep to 4, 4 meters deep and it is dependent on the water intake from the Siutghiol Lake.
The surplus of water from the Tabacarie Lake is discharged into the sea through a dam placed in the ‘Pesc?rie’ (tn. Fishery) point.
Around the Tabacariei Lake exists a park bearing the same name. The vegetation of the park consists of a variety of trees, specific to lake areas, such as: willows, poplars, swamp cypresses, red oaks.
The landscape is completed by the little wooden church, specific to the Maramures region ( tn. Maramures is a region in the northern part of Romania and it is famous for its wooden churches), called ‘Saint Mina’.
