It was once called 'The Little Paris', having a mysterious genesis, Bucharest remains the city which never ceases to amaze and to create new dreams, wishes and ambitions. With better an worse periods in time, with a special charm, Bucharest went through more than one steps of development, culture and civilization. The best description of the city, would be ‘the city of extremes’. This aspect being a link to the past, when, ‘Little Paris’, struggled between the luxurious, illuminated, paved centre, where carriages were strolling about, and the unorganized, messy suburbs.
Victoriei Square is one of those places in Bucharest which astonishes because of the load of contradictions, spatial paradoxes of meaning and purpose. Among the already known contradictions of the capital city, Victoriei Square gives you a positive general feeling, maybe due to the variety of options you have here for spending quality time. The night life is very vivid and colorful.
Romana Square is actually one of the points of the triangle formed by Victoriei Road, Lascar Catargiu Boulevard, and the Magheru – Nicolae Balcescu Boulevard. It does not have so much political significance but a lot of legends are connected to this Square. At one end of Lascar Catargiu Boulevard, there is the statue of ‘Lupa Capitolina’ which, in 103 years since it has overlooked the Square, has seen half of Bucharest.
University Square is one of the main squares of Bucharest, being situated at ground zero of the Romanian highway network. It's haussian form of 'big intersection'- "La Grande Croisee", crossing the north-south and east-west axes, allows the urban development through Parisian influences. Here, there are some of the most important buildings in Bucharest like: The National Theatre, The Intercontinental Hotel and The University Building.
Unirii Square is one of the most populated, visited squares of Bucharest, being an important commercial center. At night, when the hustle of the city calms down, you get the opportunity to admire the impressive architecture of the buildings which surround the Square. In the moonlight, the overview of Unirii Square, brings us to the image of an European Capital.
